The Food Lover's Guide to Wine

by Karen Page with Andrew Dornenburg-authors of "The Flavor Bible" and "What to Drink With What You Eat."

You may remember a while back that we told you about the wonderful resource book "What to Eat With What You Drink".  Well, this is Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg's latest contribution to the world of wine.  A "Must Have" resource book for wine-lovers.  This excellent book references 250 wines from around the world, many were wines we'd never even heard of or had a hard time finding out about.
It starts with a time-line about important and interesting wine facts, moves on to tips about how to enjoy wine, to (the important part for us) an alphabetical listing of wines with information about where they come from, grape, color, weight, volume, whether dry or sweet, acidity, tannin, primary flavors, texture, what temperature to serve it at, some pairing ideas and what countries produce the wine.

There are many interesting facts about wine and some beautiful pictures by Tom Kirkman as well.  This book is an invaluable resource for those of us who want to know more about the wines we drink.

($16.28 worth far more than that!)

Chateau Graville-Lacoste 2010

This wonderful medium-bodied white Bordeaux is a blend of 60% Semillon, 35% sauvignon blanc  and 5% muscadelle from the Graves appellation in Bordeaux, France.

Most (affordable) white Bordeaux are typically more sauvignon blanc than Semillon, but wine-maker/owner Herve` Dubourdieu prefers his white Bordeaux heavy on the Semillon and it is priced to buy!

It is very light yellow in color with aromas of melon and citrus.  It has a crisp clean herbal flavor with well-balanced acidity.  The finish is long and refreshingly satisfying.  Great when paired with fish, poultry or even spicy asian cuisine.

Alcohol is 12% by volume.  PLCB product code is 36015 and sells for $16.99 at many PA Wine and Spirit stores.  Check the PLCB product search website page to find the store nearest you that carries this excellent wine.
