Wine Tip of the Week!

Cristom Viognier Estate 2008

This rich, full bodied viognier from the Willamette Valley in Oregon is an excellent example of what some cooler regions can do with the viognier grape. This viognier is lemony-green in color. It is richly aromatic with floral aromas and bright fruit. It has flavors of juicy pears and crisp ripe apples.

At a recent AWS Indian Valley chapter wine tasting, our friend Denise Nase took us on a tour of various viognier wines from around the world. This excellent viognier was one of our favorites, actually beating out the more expensive wine from France.

Don’t use your corkscrew to open this wine. It has a glass stopper instead of a cork. The first we’ve seen.

Great when paired with creamy sauces, nuts and curry!
Best drunk now while all the flavors are still vibrant.

The alcohol content is 14% by volume, so at the wrong temperature it can be a little hot. Best when chilled lightly. PLCB product code is 15879 and is available at many PA Wine and Spirit stores for $21.99 a bottle.
